We spend our second night in Udaipur and while you're here you'd be able to tell, why. Known as the City of Lakes or the Venice of India, with a palace that nestles beside Lake Pichola and home to the royal family who live in a private part of the palace. The remainder of the palace is open to the public and is an architectural delight to wander and admire. Udaipur has a gentle feel to it and is easy to navigate on your bike, by tuktuk or with your own two feet. One of our joys is to ride the city and its limits in the cool evening and soak up the bustling atmosphere. There are so many places to eat, shop or just wander and people watch. In the centre of the old town is a very scared Jagdish Hindu Temple dating from the 1600s and is most worthy of a climb of the steps to the temple entrance.

Day -8: Udaipur – Jawai (150km)

After breakfast and chai, the elixir of a rider's life, our bikes will be ready to depart with us from Udaipur entering country roads. Our destination is Jawai. This area is part of the tribal belt with the handsome turban wearing Shep- ards. We are in leopard country, and we may have the unique opportunity to encounter Leopards in their natural habitat. The Shepards and leopards live in an extraordinary harmony. Our camp for the night is the hospitable Godwad Safari Camp where you can look forward to resting in the sounds of nature.

Shhhhh. Behold the true Royalty at Jawai, the leopard country. This particular leopard's name is Ellie and if you're lucky, you would get to meet her. (from a distance).

We begin with an early morning jeep safari experience with the leopards. Returning to the camp for breakfast, then ride to Jodhpur.
On the way you will get to experience the unique and somewhat mystical Om Banna Dam - BULLET TEMPLE. A shrine that pays homage to a local young man and his magical motorcycle. Even the greatest of cynics will be moved by the care, devotion and love bestowed upon the spirit of this motorcycle and its rider. He is said to this day care for distressed drives and riders as they pass through his village.

Continue onward to the blue city with its imposing fortress. There will be free time, to relax or take a tour of the mad and wonderful clock tower market.
