One of our favorite hotels to return to is Hotel Gulaal in Jaisalmer.

This modern award-winning heritage hotel captures the essence of heritage architecture. This modern take on an old style rises from the desert floor and immediately envelops you with a sense of warmth and welcome.

Hawavali is made of 2 words Hawa ‘Air’ and Vali ‘ventilation’. Before air conditioners designers of old knew how to keep a building cool in the desert heat. You will be utterly entranced by the care to detail, service and feeling of Hotel Galaal and understand why it remains one of our favorite modern caravanserai.

This beautiful heritage hotel is located just 35 minutes away from Bikaner city. Built in red sandstone this hotel was once served as hunting lodge for the guests of Bikaner royal family. Spreading in an area of over 6000 acres of land, Gajner Palace was also a summer palace for Ganga Singhji the king of Bikaner in the first half the 20th century. This heritage property also features a lush green garden and big courtyards. The palace hotel is known for its distinctive terraces and balconies. The Palace complex also has the remnants of a historic railway station. This hunting resort was connected to Bikaner Palace by rail in 1922 CE. Hotel is divided into four wings, Dungar Niwas, Mandir Chowk, Gulab Niwas and Champa Niwas.

The hotel has 13 historic suites. Each suite has been meticulously restored to its original grandeur. Every detail, from the furniture to the wallpaper, the four-poster beds and picturesque windows has been carefully preserved. Situated in the midst of a thick forest, tourists can sight migratory birds like Imperial Sand Goose, Antelopes and Black Bucks along with Nilgais, Chinkaras, Blue Bull and Deer near Gajner Lake.

Situated in a quiet street the Khandela Haveli is a friendly and relaxing place to stay within the energetic city of Jaipur.  From the minute you step into this inviting boutique, the environment feels both relaxed and traditional, easily noted by the array of colourful furnishings that adorn all corners.  The rooms continue the theme of tradition and colour and are amassed with wooden mahogany styled furniture, and bedding with its Rajasthan prints and a feeling of a place to so easily rest your head.  In the centre of the Haveli is the open courtyard which extends to the skies giving the feeling of being at home whilst out amongst the twinkling cosmos above.  Breakfast is taken in the ground floor restaurant whilst dining is upon the rooftop area that surrounds the open courtyard and is a very pleasant way to enjoy the regional offerings under the myriad of stars.
